How long does it take to stop craving a fag after you've given up smoking?

I'm on day 11.
A couple of people have said after 3 weeks you've cracked it.
Furnish me with your experiences.

Two week's but its one of those things where your guard has to be up all the time.
Smoking ain't popular any more.

I smoked for 20 odd years & tried several times to quit.
18 months ago I went to a hypnotherapist as advised by someone on here in Liverpool St.
Haven't smoked since , expensive but worth it, highly recommend if you seriously want to give up & have trouble doing so.

I stopped three months ago, doctors advice. I needed to be told , but having been told , the odd twinge but it seems to be going ok. £10 a pack is also a decent deterrent.

Also you chaps are lucky being able to buy a pack of just 10 of them.
Here in the states they only do 20 packs which is a pain you can't smoke a few and give a few away and be left with 1-2 to smoke the next day instead of 12 for whenever. I always give away loads when I buy a pack since Im drunk and want to smoke outside in nice weather.

Good post.
Was only thinking this yesterday.
My answer.....Never.
I'd given up totally for 4 years.
Started having the odd puff on apple mint Shishas. That led to trying Ice Burst Marlborough fags which I liked.
Started smoking them.
Gave up about 6 weeks ago. Put on weight and now miss smoking daily.

Took me about 6 months to get over the craving I suppose, but that was 4 years ago when I quit, don't even like the smell of cigs anymore.

I gave up gradually, used to set myself a goal of going all week without a ciggie, but could then could smoke on a Saturday night usually with a few beers, slowly started going longer and longer, and then only having one smoke at the end of few weeks or a month, over time I forgot I could have a smoke or wasn’t too fused and before I knew it I had given up.
Mind you particularly at first, I also made a point of avoiding the social smoking situations at work etc, and not having a heavy session on the beer!, but did find by setting myself a goal of going days/weeks, then months without a smoke it was easier than cold turkey.
If cold turkey doesn’t work, give it a go, also if you fail, don’t give up trying, eventually it will work, know a few people, myself included that have taken multiple attempts to quit before it finally works.
